YMCA/Salem Budokai martial arts classes are designed to promote positive behavior and to martialartsfoster growth of mind, body and spirit!
Our Sensei, Bob Parksion, started his martial arts training in Seattle in 1969. Sensei Parksion holds the rank of 5th degree black belt in Jujitsu, 2nd degree black belt in Aikido, and many other top-tier rankings. Al Elfstrom is a 8th degree black belt and has been training students for over 30 years. Our other outstanding instructors include Tyke Crocker, 5th degree black belt; Bill Roberts, 3rd degree black belt; Jennifer Dudley, 3rd degree black belt; Jason Robinson, 1st degree black belt; and Jonathan Cole, 1st degree black belt.

YMCA/Salem Budokai Martial Arts offer classes for people of all ages. When attending a class, please wear loose, comfortable clothing with no buttons, zippers, etc. A martial arts uniform (gi) is not required.

Youth Martial Arts

For kids ages 6 to 14

Students study four Japanese Martial Arts: Jujitsu, Karate, Aikido and Judo.

Tuesday and Thursday Evenings 5:30-6:30 p.m.
$25.00 members / $40.00 non-members

Family Jujitsu Class

Offered to students from the Youth and Adult Martial Arts Classes.

Saturdays 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Free when enrolled in Youth Martial Arts or Adult Justjitu

Adult Jujitsu

For ages 15+

A focus in four Martial Arts; Jujitsu, Karate, Aikido and Judo in a non-competitive atmosphere for all skill levels.

Tuesday and Thursday Evenings 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Free for members / $40.00 non-members

Sport Judo Team

For ages 16+

Greco-Roman style with an emphasis on throwing techniques. Participants may have an opportunity to travel to Judo tournaments.

Friday Evenings 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Free for members / $40.00 non-members
