Gymnastics at the Y

Our progressive gymnastics lessons help children develop their talents and love of the sport. Experienced instructors lead the way, and students are excited and motivated to learn new skills each week. We offer monthly sessions from November through May. 

All gymnastics programs are co-ed and based out of our Monmouth-Independence branch.

Micro Gymnastics is for 3 to 5 year old's ($35 for Members, $45 for Non-Members)

Beginner & Intermediate Youth Gymnastics is for Kinder through 8th Grade. ($55 for Members, $75 for Non-Members)

Cheerleading at the YMCA

Competition Cheer based at our Monmouth-Independence Location
YMCA Cougar Competition Cheer runs July through February

*Monthly membership, monthly program tuition, and uniform fees are required for the competition cheer program*

Tiny Cheer is for athletes who will be 3 years old by Aug. 31, 2024, to those turning 5 but not entering Kindergarten. Athletes will start learning basic skills and building a routine to compete 2 times during the competition season and practice 2 times a week. 

Mini Cheer for athletes entering Kinder through 2nd Grade. Athletes will learn and build on basic skills and build a routine to compete 3-4 times during the competition season. They will practice 2 times a week. 

Youth Game Day Cheer is for athletes entering 3rd Grade through 8th Grade who are new to cheer and gymnastics or have little experience. Athletes will learn basic cheer skills and build a routine to compete 4-6 times during the competition season. They will practice 2 times a week.

Youth Traditional is meant for athletes entering 3rd Grade through 5th Grade and have previous cheer or gymnastics experience. Athletes will continue building on intermediate skills and build a routine to compete 4-6 times during the competition season. They will practice twice a week in addition to once a week tumbling.

Junior Traditional Cheer is for athletes who will be entering 6th through 8th Grade and have previous cheer or gymnastics experience. Athletes will continue building on intermediate/advanced skills and build routines to compete at least 6 times during the competition season. They will practice 2 times a week for two hours each practice, in addition to once a week tumbling. 

Camps and Clinics

Our cheerleading clinics, camps, and classes offer a fun, yet structured way for kids in grades K to 8 to learn cheerleading at the basic to intermediate levels.

Summer 4th of July Cheer Camp is for athletes who will be finished with Kinder through 8th Grade (Co-Ed)
This two-week camp focuses on skill-building, teamwork, dance routines, stunts, tumbling, and more! Campers will have the option to show off their skills and join us in the Fourth of July parade. Camp T-shirts included.

Spring Clinics Tumbling, fundamental, and stunting-specific clinics are offered monthly during our off-season, March-May.

Talmage Sideline Cheer

Middle School Sideline Cheer for 6th through 8th Grade, Fall
No previous experience is needed. Teams practice for gameday cheers, dance routines, and halftime shows. Cheerleaders will practice once to twice a week and will perform and cheer at Talmage Middle School home games.
