Salem YMCA Hosting Youth Baseball Camp in April

The Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties will be offering a youth baseball camp for children ages 5-12 on Saturday, April 15, from 8 AM until 10 AM inside the gymnasium at the Salem Family YMCA.

Former professional baseball players Gary McGraw and Brett Evert will be instructing the camp that costs $25 for members or $45 for non-members.


Gary McGraw has spent 28 years in professional baseball, the first of which he spent playing for the Oakland Athletics’ organization. The last 16 years have been spent scouting high school and college players for the Texas Rangers.


Brett Evert graduated from North Salem High in 1999 and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the same year. Brett spent nine seasons playing for the Braves, Mariners, Brewers and Red Sox. He has spent the last nine years scouting the Northwest Region for the Braves.
